10 biggest and unusual LED screens in the world

Unusual LED screens: some LED constructions amaze with their size and original shape.

Among them are those that have made it into the Guinness World Records. In this article, we will talk about ten of the largest and unique screens on the planet, which use advanced LED software to achieve incredible visual effects.

1. Absolute record holder (Las Vegas, USA)

The leader became the music and entertainment arena in the form of The Sphere at The Venetian Resort, covering an area of 81,300 square meters. With its monstrous dimensions, it outshines not only all existing LED screens but also all spherical buildings in the world. This giant LED screen uses state-of-the-art LED software, allowing for unforgettable visual shows.

The nine-level platform accommodates 20,000 people, and inside the sphere, one of the most powerful audio systems in the world is installed, ensuring perfect sound throughout the hall. Thanks to the integration of cutting-edge technologies in LED software, the screen can display high-quality images and videos with exceptional clarity and brightness. The opening took place on September 29, 2023, accompanied by a concert by the Irish rock band U2, promising to be a true sensation.

2. In the cinema (Beijing, China)

Samsung Electronics developed a fourteen-meter Onyx Cinema screen with 3D support, which has become a breakthrough in the world of cinema industry. The display area is almost twice as large as the first model in the Onyx lineup, allowing audiences to enjoy massive screenings on a new level. The innovation provides a powerful immersion effect thanks to advanced LED software that optimizes every pixel for maximum visual impact. Using innovative LED panels, the screen displays images with extraordinary detail and color saturation.

Today, such a large-scale movie experience can only be enjoyed at the Capital cinema in Beijing, one of China’s top five cinemas. This cinema is equipped with state-of-the-art LED panels that provide incredible image and sound quality, creating a fully immersive experience on the screen. The 3D system integrated into Onyx Cinema allows viewers to feel part of the film, providing new opportunities for cinematic experiments and creative solutions.

3. In the virtual studio (Vancouver, Canada)

The largest screen for virtual video production is located at Canadian Motion Picture Park in Vancouver. It features a panorama covering 760 square meters with a 310° view. This impressive structure consists of 2,500 wall panels and 760 ceiling panels, creating an ideal environment for filming. The screen uses advanced LED software, allowing images to be tailored to any shooting needs, ensuring high quality and realism. This virtual studio is a prime example of how indoor LED screen technologies can revolutionize content production, providing directors and producers with new tools for creating visual effects and scenes.

4. Underground (Shanghai, China)

An impressive video wall is installed at the Lujiazui metro station in Shanghai. This innovative structure displays visual content across 23 zones that are independent of each other. The screen can withstand earthquakes up to eight on the Richter scale and is securely protected against moisture and dust, making it ideal for use in challenging conditions.

Utilizing LED screen software, this video wall ensures seamless operation and high image quality in the high-traffic environment of the metro station. Thanks to outdoor LED screen technologies, the screen remains clear and bright even in bright lighting or other challenging environmental conditions.

5. Underwater (Dubai, UAE)

Three years ago, Global Village set new records by installing a screen exceeding 5,000 square meters in an artificial lake. The waterproof display was created with LED mesh with a pixel pitch of 150 mm, making it unique in its kind. This underwater LED screen uses special image management software, enabling vivid and clear visual effects even underwater.

With advanced outdoor LED screen technologies, the display delivers high performance and durability, withstanding the impact of water and corrosion. Such innovative approaches open new possibilities for creating captivating visual shows and advertising campaigns in the most unusual locations.

6. At the airport (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia)

In 2020, VGI Airports designed a 400-square-meter LED wall that greets arrivals at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, stretching across the entire arrival area in the main terminal. This impressive structure consists of Absen N4 panels with a lightweight cast casing, ensuring high image quality and reliability.

The installed LED wall uses advanced LED software that allows real-time content management, ensuring constant updates of information and advertisements. Thanks to digital signage software, the airport can easily adapt the display according to passenger needs and changing conditions, making the arrival process more comfortable and informative.

7. At the stadium (Arlington, USA)

The structure at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington consists of four screens located in the center of the stadium at a height of 27 meters. It is renowned for its two main displays measuring 49×22 square meters, which are the largest devices designed for television broadcasting. The two side screens are significantly smaller: 16×9 square meters. These huge monitors appeared in Arlington in 2009, and since then, the record has not been broken.

Using advanced LED software, these screens provide high-quality image transmission during sports events and other activities held at the stadium. Digital signage software allows for efficient content management on the screens, providing viewers with the most up-to-date information and entertainment materials.

8. Street exhibition (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia)

To attract tourists to the capital of Saudi Arabia, 275 LED screens were installed. This exhibition made it into the Guinness World Records as the largest on the planet. As early as 2006, the country embarked on a path of digital transformation, propelling it into the top 10 most developed countries in the field of digitalization.

These LED screens use advanced LED software, allowing the creation of dynamic and attractive visual effects that draw the attention of passersby. Thanks to digital signage software, the exhibition can promptly change and update content, ensuring constant interest and audience engagement. This street installation has become a true symbol of modern Riyadh, showcasing Saudi Arabia’s achievements in digital technologies.

9. Mirror screen (Dubai, UAE)

Another record holder from the Arab world is the display at the Saudi Arabia Pavilion at Expo 2020. The screen, covering over 1300 square meters, consists of 1336 LED panels with a pixel pitch of 31 mm. The main highlight of the development is the mirror coating of the LEDs. This coating allows simultaneous content demonstration and image reflection from another screen, creating a unique visual effect.

Using Digital Signage system, content on the screen can be easily changed and updated, ensuring relevance and dynamic display of information. This mirror screen is also used for DOOH advertising, attracting the attention of exhibition visitors and facilitating effective audience engagement through DOOH networks.

10. Curved screen (Dubai, UAE)

At the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo, a curved screen measuring over 700 square meters and towering as tall as a two-story building is installed. It is composed of 820 thin and flexible organic LED (OLED) panels, allowing it to have a curved shape. The display is positioned above the main aquarium tank and visible from three levels of The Dubai Mall shopping center.

This marketing move helps attract more visitors to the aquarium, creating impressive visual effects and drawing attention to the exotic inhabitants of the aquarium. Using Digital Signage system, content on the curved screen is continuously updated, ensuring relevance and attractiveness for visitors. Additionally, the screen plays a crucial role in DOOH advertising, enhancing brand visibility and increasing customer flow through effective DOOH networks.
